An AI-created illustration of taking the first step, inspired by my story.
Have you ever wanted to start working online, then stopped because you were worried about what people would think?
I understand. When I first started making videos, I was scared.
Would people judge me? Would I say the wrong thing? What would people who knew me think?
I had a fire in my heart and a vision for my life. But that did not mean I felt brave every time I showed up.
The words I needed to hear
A mentor shared a thought that stayed with me: what other people think of you is none of your business.
For me, that means I cannot let someone else's opinion make every choice for my life. I can listen to helpful advice. I can learn. I can improve. But I do not have to wait for everyone to approve before I begin.
Someone may not understand your vision. You can still take care of it.
I am building my next chapter, too
My name is Wanda DiPaolo. I raised two boys as a single mother. I am a grandmother, a woman of faith, and the author of R.I.S.E. I have worked in union construction for about 23 years, and I am building my online business as I prepare for retirement.
I am still learning. I do not have every answer.
But I know why I keep going. I want to leave a legacy. I want my family to see that we can keep growing and begin again. And I want someone reading this, wherever they live, to know their story is not over.
People need someone they can relate to
I used to worry about how I would come across on video. What I keep learning is that a video does not have to be perfect to help someone.
There is value in seeing a real person learn, try, and move forward. That is the person I want to be.
My mission is to help one person move forward. When I remember that, I can bring my attention back to the person who might need the message instead of staying stuck on how I look or sound.
I ask myself: could something I share help one person today?
Live what you share
I also believe in being a product of the products and services I share. To me, that means using them in my own life, learning what they do, and speaking honestly about my experience.
I want to share what I am putting into practice. The same goes for personal growth. If I talk about taking a small step, I need to keep taking mine, too.
My faith is part of that journey. I can pray for guidance and take the next step while I am still learning.
Your first step can be small
If making a video scares you, try recording a short one just for practice. You do not have to post it today.
Choose one person you would like to help. Share one thing you have learned. Speak as if you are talking to that person over a cup of coffee.
Watch it with kindness. Notice one thing you did well and one thing you can improve. Then try again.
You do not have to build your whole future today. Give yourself a chance to begin.
There is room for your voice
That fire in your heart matters. The vision you carry deserves your care and effort.
I want this blog to be a place where people around the world find hope, honest lessons, and a small step they can use. Whether you are starting online or beginning another chapter of your life, you are welcome here.
What is one step you have been putting off because you are worried about what people will think?
Start there. I am still moving forward, too.
Never Give Up. Keep Moving Forward.
With love,
Wanda DiPaolo
